Intellectual property is a critical part of an innovation-driven economy and ensuring B.C. businesses and entrepreneurs know how to use and protect their intellectual property will be essential for harnessing the power of innovation to support clean and inclusive economic growth.

B.C. Intellectual Property Strategy

B.C.’s Intellectual Property Strategy will build the province’s intellectual property capacity by increasing the awareness, use and protection of intellectual property by small and medium-sized enterprises. This will ultimately create the conditions that will contribute to a more sustainable and viable innovation ecosystem in B.C.

Innovate BC

Innovate BC is creating new training opportunities and resources. A new IP Hub is being developed where you will be able to:

learn about training opportunities
access intellectual property databases
connect with intellectual property experts

Innovate BC funds and delivers programs in all regions of the province. Visit Innovate BC to learn more about programs that:

support companies to start and scale
train talent to meet labour market needs
encourage technology development, commercialization and adoption

AccelerateIP

AccelerateIP is a new intellectual property initiative by New Ventures BC. The program will launch later this year. Program collaborators will include InnovateBC, business accelerators, incubators, business and technology organizations and regional intellectual property leaders.

AccelerateIP provides education and support for:

Foundational IP awareness and education
IP strategy guidance and development
IP strategy execution and implementation
