Records and Information Management Manual

Last updated on March 8, 2023

The Records and Information Management Manual (RIM Manual) provides guidance to support ministries in all aspects of managing, protecting, and accessing government information, including data and records.

The RIM Manual is organized in three sections:

  1. Create or Receive
  2. Use and Maintain
  3. Keep or Destroy

Search the RIM Manual

The RIM Manual treats the stages of the information lifecycle as overlapping aspects of a continuous process, from creation to protection and access. Within each section you will find high-level, principle-based guidance along with links to more detailed guides that focus on specific topics, tasks, procedures, and/or roles.

The RIM Manual also includes the RIM Glossary. To subscribe for updates check out the Release Notes. For a list of all pages see the Site Map.
