Learn more about special projects the Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Branch manages. This diverse range of initiatives is part of government’s efforts to address historical wrongs, dismantle systemic racism and create an inclusive British Columbia.

These projects prioritize collaboration between government and communities affected by institutionalized racism in B.C., with the aim of making B.C. more welcoming and equitable for all.

Chinese Legacy BC

In 2014, a formal apology was delivered on behalf of all members of the B.C. legislative assembly to Chinese Canadians for historical wrongs committed by past provincial governments. A report was released that outlined 13 recommendations to recognize the social, cultural and economic contributions of Chinese Canadians to the province.

  • From  October 2023 to Summer 2024 The Province is seeking input to inform the vision for a new museum or cultural centre in B.C.
  • There are multiple ways for communities, individuals, and organizations to contribute their thoughts and ideas about the museum
