The nominees for the 2025 Award of Excellence for Construction Management and Supervision Achievement are:

Glacier Technical Services Ltd.

Replacing the two-lane bridge crossing at Quartz Creek, 40 km west of Golden, with a new four-lane bridge, access improvements to forest service roads and widening 4.4 km of two-lane highway to four lanes.

The Quartz Creek Bridge Replacement and Four-Laning Project, was successfully executed under Glacier Technical Services Ltd. (Glacier)'s skilled supervision. This ambitious project included replacing the Quartz Creek Bridge with a 184-meter-long, three-span, four-lane structure and completing extensive highway upgrades, wildlife underpasses, and culvert replacements. The project was especially challenging due to its remote location and harsh climate.

Glacier's team provided expert guidance and mentorship to a contractor new to B.C. highway construction work, ensuring the project's timely completion and adherence to high quality standards.

Their collaborative approach, combined with effective issue resolution and cost management, resulted in a project delivered within budget and on schedule. Glacier's investment in future leadership through mentorship fosters succession planning for the next generation of professionals.

The Phibbs Exchange Project improves active transportation connections and increase capacity, enhance safety, and improve accessibility for transit users in the Lower Mainland.

Location: North Vancouver

The Phibbs Transit Exchange Improvements project, a complex $17.1-million endeavor, was successfully delivered on time and within budget. R.F. Binnie & Associates Ltd. faced numerous challenges which were effectively addressed through strong project management and stakeholder coordination.

The team effectively managed a significant design update to better accommodate all users, ensuring minimal disruption to the project schedule. Custom detour maps were developed and updated regularly to maintain pedestrian and cycling access as a top priority.

The resulting transit exchange is a functional and aesthetically-pleasing facility that has been well-received by the public. Through strong project management, stakeholder coordination, and a commitment to community needs, the project team successfully overcame obstacles and delivered a high-quality infrastructure project.
