Period Poverty Task Force report

Last updated on June 18, 2024

Period poverty is the lack of access to menstrual supplies due to a variety of barriers. Taking action on these barriers is critical to the inclusion of women and other people who menstruate in:

  • Schools
  • Workplaces
  • The community

In March 2022, the B.C. government supported the establishment of a Period Poverty Task Force to recommend a comprehensive, long-term response to period poverty in B.C.

The task force released its final report in March 2024.

Government is committed to reviewing the recommendations laid out in the report to determine a path forward to ending period poverty in B.C.

Key areas include:

  • Legislation and policy
  • Distribution of menstrual supplies
  • Menstrual education
  • Menstrual health care
