Current foster caregivers

Foster (both full-time and respite) caregivers receive ongoing support from a care circle. A care circle is a group of trusted people who have knowledge of a child or youth and their strengths and needs. The circle includes:

  • The child or youth’s family
  • Members of their Indigenous community
  • Their social worker
  • Other community members and professionals

Foster caregiver payments

Foster caregivers receive a monthly maintenance payment based on the type of home that covers the costs of caring for a child or youth.

PRIDE In-Service

All foster caregivers must complete the PRIDE In-Service training within two years of becoming approved. This specialized mandatory training is free of charge and takes about 53 hours to complete.
