Violation Tickets

Last updated on October 26, 2018

Violation tickets are issued by designated officials to persons and businesses for minor offenses such as littering, hunting violations, and illegal campfires. Tickets are an efficient deterrence to harmful behaviours as they are often issued in the field.

The Violation Ticket Administration and Fines Regulation (VTAFR) of the Offence Act prescribes the types of violations tickets that can be issued and specifies the corresponding fine amount.  VTAFR also states the types enforcement officers who may issue violation tickets and the types of tickets that these officers can issue.

Provincial violation tickets can either be paid or disputed. Not paying or disputing a ticket within 30 days means the ticket holder is considered to have plead guilty, and the full amount is due immediately.
