This online tool helps users identify available cumulative effects assessments within a specific area of interest and explore cumulative effects information from British Columbia’s Cumulative Effects Framework (CEF). The portal makes CEF information easier to find and use in decision-making, whether in strategic, tactical, or operational contexts.

The BC CEF Integrated Roads data set (2024) is a combination of various publicly accessible road line data sources into a single data set. It is intended for use in provincial-scale spatial assessments in British Columbia and to support cumulative effects assessment and analysis. The road line data which contributed to this data set is publicly available and has varying levels of quality, accuracy and completeness. This data was designed for strategic level cumulative effects analysis, and is only meant for coarse GIS analysis, summarized by large areas.

The CEF Human Disturbance data set (2023) is a consolidated human disturbance footprint data set. It is intended for provincial-scale spatial assessments in British Columbia and to support cumulative effects assessment and analysis. This data set was generated by Province of British Columbia GIS staff from publicly-accessible data which has varying levels of quality, accuracy and completeness.

The Human Disturbance Data Explorer is a web application built to assist users to view the extent of human disturbance in British Columbia. The data visualized in this application is a starting point for conversations about human activity on the land base. Multiple sources of publicly available data have been used to create this tool.
