Certificate of Qualification and Independent School Teaching Certificate

If you believe you meet the requirements based on the updated Certification Standards, complete and submit a new online application. After an evaluator has reviewed your application, we will provide you with a list of required documents. After you submit the documents, the evaluator can complete the evaluation.

If you were required to complete coursework, ask the post-secondary institution(s) where you completed your coursework to send your transcript to us.

If you were required to take a language proficiency test, ask the testing centre to send your test results to us.

If you Received an Evaluation Letter Before June 18, 2019 that is still Valid

Certificate of Qualification

If you believe you meet the requirements based on the new Certification Standards, please email trb.certification@gov.bc.ca.

After we review your email, we will provide you with a list of documents that you will need to send us. We will need the documents to re-evaluate your qualifications under the Certification Standards. Because some documents expire after one year, we may ask you for updated documents. After we review the updated documents, we may ask you for more documents before we can issue a certificate.

If you have completed training to gain current teaching experience within B.C.

  • Ask your institution to send us a copy of your transcript
  • Send in final practicum reports from your school and faculty associates
  • Provide documents for any other outstanding requirements

After we have received your documents, we will contact you to provide us with updated documents (some documents expire after one year). After reviewing your updated documents, we may ask for more documents before we can issue a certificate.

If you have completed training to become familiar with the B.C. education system

  • Ask your institution to send us a copy of your transcript. If your training was at SFU or UBC, the university will automatically send a transcript
