Update

To expand the provincial EV charging network, we have installed charging stations at 30 locations along provincial highways, adding to the over 5,000 charging stations in the province.

  • Shelter Bay Ferry Terminal on Highway 23 is now open to the public.
  • Wire Cache Rest Area on Highway 5 east of Clearwater now hosts two 50kW Flo chargers

B.C.'s rest areas are a convenient and beautiful spot to charge your EV. View the rest area map to plan your trip and check amenities like washrooms and picnic areas. Most rest area charging station sites include:

  • Two level-3 chargers (also known as DCFC or DC fast chargers) that provide either 25kW or 50kW charge
  • One level-2 charger that provides either 7.2kW or 19kW charge

These EV charging stations are free to use and do not require a card or network membership.

Make sure you carry the right adapters. Ministry charging stations host:

  • Level-3 chargers (CHAdeMO and CCS/SAE connectors)
  • Level-2 chargers (SAE J1772 connector)
