July 2025
- July 24-25 - Paving between Beddis Road and Cranberry Road (single-lane alternating traffic)
- Some unpaved surfaces will remain to end of July - please drive carefully
Standard delays
Plan for delays along this route throughout the project:
- Active working hours have been increased to 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional work on Sundays, to allow for acceleration of the schedule and completion by summer 2025
- People travelling along the Fulford-Ganges Road should anticipate up to a 20-minute delay through the project site and are encouraged to plan ahead and avoid peak travel times to minimize delays.
- Single Lane Alternating Traffic (SLAT) is only permitted in active construction zone areas where the contractor is actively working.
- Posted speed will be reduced to 30km/h from 50 km/h during construction where the contractor is actively working
- Road closures are not permitted within 20 minutes of a ferry arrival at Fulford Harbour
- The contractor will comply with all the applicable bylaws of the Capital Regional District regarding hours of work
The project includes:
- Resurfacing and grading to provide paved shoulders on both sides of Fulford-Ganges Road
- Pulverizing the existing roadway and re-building the road base to 2-lanes including shoulders
- Constructing an underground storm sewer drainage system for almost the entire length of the project
- Placement of new pavement
- Adding additional enhancements for safety and active transportation, such as new signage, paint markings, cross walks, and refuge areas for cyclists
- Developing a staging area to install a large culvert at the creek near Cranberry Road
Schedule
- Paving along Fulford-Ganges Road is anticipated to be complete by early August 2025.
- Overall project completion, including sideroads and intersections, is expected by late summer 2025
