Where we mail your declaration

Last updated on May 5, 2026

If you own residential property in a designated taxable area, the Province will mail you a speculation and vacancy tax declaration letter explaining how to complete your declaration. In some circumstances when you own multiple properties, you may receive separate declaration letters.

How your mailing address is determined

Speculation and vacancy tax declaration letters are usually mailed to your mailing address on file with BC Assessment.

It is important to keep your BC Assessment and Land Title and Survey Authority (LTSA) records current to ensure you do not miss any important mail.

Confirm your mailing address

If you are uncertain about the accuracy of the mailing address associated with your speculation and vacancy tax account, contact us. We will verify your information and provide instructions on any of the next steps.

Updating your mailing information

If your mailing address has recently changed, or you believe it may not be accurate for the purposes of speculation and vacancy tax, you should update your information with LTSA and with BC Assessment.

LTSA – update your mailing address on title

BC Assessment – update contact information

See partner agencies for information about how address and property data from LTSA and BC Assessment is used for the tax.

When to expect your declaration letter

Check when to expect your declaration letter so you’ll know approximately when your letter will arrive. All letters should be delivered by late February. If you have not received your letter by then, contact us.

If you’ll be away or otherwise unable to receive the letter when it arrives, contact us so we can help ensure you submit your declaration on time.
