BC Prosecution Service announces policy update – Victims of Crime (VIC 1)
Victoria – The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announces an update to the Crown Counsel Policy
Manual. The Victims of Crime (VIC 1) policy has been updated to respond to recommendations
within Dr. Kim Stanton’s The British Columbia Legal System’s Treatment of Intimate Partner
Violence and Sexual Violence: Final Report, also known as the Stanton Report. The guidance on
testimonial accommodation and publication bans has been expanded.

BC Prosecution Service approves charge against Port McNeill RCMP officer
Victoria – The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced today that a charge of one count of assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code has been approved against a member of the Port McNeill RCMP, Cst. Keegan Schneider, following an incident that occurred in Port McNeill on June 21, 2025.

Victoria – The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced today that on June 27, 2025, Andi MacKay KC was appointed as a Special Prosecutor involving an investigation being conducted by the Richmond RCMP into allegations against Hon-Sang Chan.

Victoria – The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced today that no charges have been approved against a Port Alberni RCMP officer who was involved in an incident at the Port Alberni RCMP detachment on May 14, 2025.

approved against a member of the RCMP’s BC Highway Patrol who was involved in an incident

Victoria – The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced today that a charge under the Motor Vehicle Act has been approved against a member of the Abbotsford Police Department, Cst. Scott McClure, following an incident that occurred in Abbotsford on February 20, 2025.

Victoria – The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced today that no charges have been approved against a Victoria Police Department officer involved in a fatal shooting on September 12, 2021.

Victoria – The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced today that Claire Hatcher has concluded her charge assessment as a Special Prosecutor involving an investigation being conducted by the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment of the RCMP into allegations against Maple Ridge ity councillor Ahmed Antar Yousef Mohamed.
