Victoria – The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced today that a charge under the Motor
Vehicle Act has been approved against a member of the Vancouver Police Department, Cst. Aaron
Carter, following an incident that occurred in Vancouver on May 21, 2024.

BC Prosecution Service announces decision of Special Prosecutor
Victoria – The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced today that on January 29, 2025, Claire
Hatcher was appointed as a Special Prosecutor involving an investigation being conducted by
the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment of the RCMP into allegations of assault against
Maple Ridge city councillor Ahmed Antar Yousef Mohamed.

BC Prosecution Service approves Motor Vehicle Act charge against Vancouver Island RCMP officer
Victoria – The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced today that a charge under the Motor
Vehicle Act has been approved against a member of the RCMP currently serving with the North
Cowichan/Duncan detachment, Staff Sergeant Steven Perret, following an incident that occurred
in Ladysmith on June 1, 2024. Staff Sergeant Perret was a member of the Vancouver Island District
RCMP at the time of the alleged offence.

Vehicle Act has been approved against a member of the Central Saanich Police Service, Cpl. Phillip DiBattista, following an incident that occurred in Central Saanich on May 21, 2024.

BC Prosecution Service approves charge against Vancouver special municipal constable
Victoria – The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced today that a charge of assault has been approved against Vancouver Special Municipal Constable Omar Ahmed Flores following an incident that is alleged to have occurred at the Vancouver Police Department jail on January 1, 2023.

BC Prosecution Service announces revised policies
Victoria – On April 8, 2025, the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced a series of policy updates to reflect recent amendments to the Criminal Code. A new form of recognizance was created, section 810.03 “fear of intimate partner violence”, as well as amendments to the provisions in respect of judicial interim release.

Victoria – On March 4, 2024, the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced that John M. Gordon KC had been appointed as a Special Prosecutor involving an investigation being conducted by the Port Moody Police Department (PMPD) into allegations of campaign finance irregularities in West Vancouver Mayor Mark Sager’s campaign for the municipal election held in October 2022.

Victoria – The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced today that no charges have been approved against an officer with the Kamloops RCMP detachment involved in a collision with a suspect on a bicycle on December 3, 2021.

BC Prosecution Service announces appointment of a Special Prosecutor
Victoria – The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced today that on December 9, 2024, Chris Johnson KC was appointed as a Special Prosecutor following an investigation by the Westshore RCMP into allegations of an offence on September 9, 2024, in Langford. One of the accused was recently determined to be related to a provincial court judge.
