Explore by Location

Explore by Location is an interactive mapping tool that provides information about the land base within a selected area of interest (AOI). It highlights existing activities, designations, or other land uses to help you determine whether your AOI is available for the activity you plan to apply for.

Use the mapping functions 

Explore by Location allows you to customize your map based on what is important to your project.

You can create and manage AOIs, customize map layers, and mark up the map. View the mapping functions for more details.

Create reports

Generate a report describing how existing uses may impact your proposed project.

Reports can only be run on one AOI at a time and the AOI cannot be larger than 10,000 ha.

Create an AOI on the map to run a report. 

Generate an on-screen summary or PDF report

Explore by Location can generate an on-screen summary or create a downloadable PDF report for your AOI.

An on-screen summary provides an interactive report of the selected area. The summary includes descriptions, guidance, and a clickable list of overlaps that affect your AOI.

A PDF report provides a detailed, printable listing of all overlaps within the AOI. These are based on pre-determined data layers and report overlaps that fall within 10 m of your AOI.
