Gas and Oil Reserves in British Columbia

B.C.'s northeast region, a part of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin (WCSB), is currently the only area where reserves are recognized by the province.  

The British Columbia Oil and Gas Commission's (OGC's)  annual report, entitled Hydrocarbon & By-Product Reserves in British Columbia, presents the province's hydrocarbon reserve estimates as of the end of the calendar year. The estimates include original oil and gas in-place volumes, initial recoverable volumes, annual and cumulative production, and remaining recoverable volumes.

Details of the reserves estimates to year-end 2007 are summarized in the 2007 Hydrocarbon & By-Product Reserves in British Columbia. The hard copy report is available from Crown Publications Inc. It can be viewed at the Oil and Gas Commission Offices in Fort St. John or Victoria, and at the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources Library in Victoria.

This table summarizes B.C.’s remaining established reserves as of December 31, 2007, providing a comparison with the December 31, 2006 reserves.
