March 31
The task force remains committed to working collaboratively to address challenges, improve forest management, and ensure a sustainable future for B.C.’s forests.
Engagement:
The Task Force continues to engage with First Nations, industry, and other interest holders as part of its ongoing work to provide recommendations on the BCTS Review.
- Ongoing engagement remains a priority. Over the past two weeks, the task force has met with industry groups such as the Truck Loggers Association, Western Forestry Contractors Association, BC Log & Timber Building Industry Association, as well as individual foresters and First Nations representatives
- The first of two First Nations engagement sessions resulted in valuable feedback collected from Nations in attendance. Several follow-up discussions will be held with the task force, and the second engagement session will be held in May
- The task force has held in-depth discussions on key topics, including fibre flow constraints, to better understand challenges and explore solutions
- Minister Ravi Parmar also met with the task force to discuss priorities and receive updates
March 11
The task force team remains in the early stages of engagement and policy analysis as part of the ongoing review process.
- Regular bi-weekly meetings are being held by the task force to discuss policy options and review processes
- The task force meets with Minister Ravi Parmar on a bi-weekly basis to discuss emerging policy ideas and the broader scope of the review
- Strategic advisors and subject matter experts have also begun collaborating in dedicated policy teams to support this work
Engagement:
Engagement continues to be a key priority, with the task force actively participating in a variety of forums and discussions. Recent engagements include (among others) participation in:
- The BC First Nations Forestry Council Forum
- Provincial Forestry Forum
- Timber Sales Advisory Committee
- BC Value-Added Wood Coalition

Since the announcement of the BC Timber Sales review on January 15, significant strides have been made in planning, developing engagement processes, and establishing project teams and governance structures. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and transparent review process, and we’re excited to share our progress so far.
Key Milestones:
- Briefings with the Task Force: We held both initial and follow-up briefings with the Task Force to ensure alignment on the engagement process and the development of relevant policies
- Internal Working Group Meetings: Our Internal Working Group met with the Task Force to discuss the foundational processes for engagement and policy development
- Policy Exploration: Initial exploratory research and ideation on potential policy ideas have commenced, laying the groundwork for the next phase of the review
Engagement with Stakeholders:
- The Task Force has already begun engaging with stakeholders and attended their first Provincial Forestry Forum meeting
- Engagement: On February 25 and 26, we hosted an engagement session at the First Nations Forestry Council Annual Forum, connecting with over 100 participants to gather valuable insights and feedback
