About third-party tools

Third-parties, with prior permission granted through licensing agreements, are developing digital tools and services to support BC Building Code compliance and improve construction efficiency.

These tools can be helpful, and it is important to know:

  • Designed to support: Tools and services from licensed companies are meant to provide information and guidance, but they do not decide if a project is code compliant
  • Professional responsibility: Designers, builders, architect, engineers and other professionals must make sure their tools follow all rules
  • Determining code compliance: Local governments decide if a project meets the BC Building Code
  • No Provincial endorsement: The Province does not check, approve or guarantee the accuracy or results of any third-party tool or service

Using these tools

When using these tools:

  • Confirm project requirements with your local government
  • Check the results information against official BC Building Code rules
  • Contact the tool provider if you have any questions about how their product works
