The British Columbia 2026 Food Security Flood Recovery Program responds to impacts of the December 10th - 19th, 2025 flooding on livestock and crop producers operating on the Sumas Prairie, by helping to offset costs of returning to production.
The British Columbia 2026 Food Security Flood Recovery Program (the program) provides one-time funding for:
The program is not meant to compensate for farm income losses and does not reduce the need to purchase commercial insurance for farm assets and infrastructure.
Eligible farmers impacted by flooding of the Sumas Prairie are encouraged to apply. Damage assessment specialists will be available for individualized support.
Insurance and income protection offer a range of programs designed to help manage agricultural production risks. Farmers who are enrolled in the AgriStability program, and who's operation was affected by flooding, may be eligible for compensation and are encouraged to call 1-877-343-2767.
The program is open to agricultural producers who were impacted by December 2025 flooding of the Sumas Prairie area and have their main farmstead in B.C.
