The Province is working to improve communication with producers on agricultural water management, efficient irrigation technologies and strategies, drought conditions and supports available to prepare for drought.

The Province hosts in-person and online workshops, information sessions and field days throughout B.C., with dates and locations updated regularly below. Please check this page often for the most up to date information.

Current offerings:

Field Days with Southern Irrigation: Through this series of irrigation field days and workshops with Southern Irrigation, the Province strives to empower British Columbia's farmers and ranchers with the knowledge and tools to implement efficient irrigation practices and strengthen the resilience of their operations. With hands-on demonstrations, expert guidance, and knowledge-sharing, we aim to foster a culture of water stewardship and contribute to a climate-ready and water-wise future for agriculture in B.C. For a complete list of Southern Irrigation’s 2024 Irrigation Field Days and Workshops, please see below, of visit their landing page for the series.

Livestock Drought Management Field Days and Workshops: These field days and workshops are for livestock producers who have been affected by drought and are looking for more information to help with on-farm decision-making continuing beyond a drought season. Organized in partnership with the BC Cattlemen’s Association, these events are open to producers of all livestock types and will include discussions with the three consultants and focus on animal nutrition, forage management and economic/business decisions.

Agricultural Water Management and Water Storage Field Days and Workshops: This series includes field days and workshops covering one or more of a variety of topics, from optimizing irrigation systems, on-farm water storage and tips for using and managing water on your farm. Delivered by certified irrigation designers, these workshops aim to provide producers with the tools and information they need to improve their on-farm water use.
