Energy efficiency incentives 

Building or renovating is an ideal time to think about improving the energy efficiency of your home.

Better homes 

The CleanBC Better Homes program offers rebates for energy-efficient home upgrades. These include: 

  • Heat pumps: Rebates for installing high-efficiency heat pumps 
  • Insulation: Financial incentives for upgrading your home's insulation 
  • Windows and doors: Rebates for replacing old windows and doors with energy-efficient models

Financial institutions  

Talk to your financial institution about mortgage offers or loan opportunities related to buying, building or renovating an energy efficient home. 

Accessible Home Adaptations rebate 

The BC Rebate for Accessible Home Adaptations provides up to $20,000 in rebates for home modifications that make living spaces safer and more accessible for seniors and people with disabilities. Eligible adaptations include: 

  • Ramps and handrails: Installation of ramps and handrails. 
  • Bathroom modifications: Changes to make bathrooms more accessible.

Seniors and persons with disabilities home renovation tax credits 

B.C. credits 

The home renovation tax credit for seniors and persons with disabilities can help with the cost of certain home renovations to improve accessibility, functionality or mobility.  This credit helps cover the cost of: Home modifications: Renovations that improve accessibility and safety. 

Federal credits (HATC) 

This federal Home Accessibility Tax Credit complements B.C. programs. Seniors or persons with disabilities can receive tax credits for renovations to improve accessibility or reduce risk of harm.
