The B.C. Immunizing Agents and Vaccine Catalogue Value Set is aligned to the National Vaccine Catalogue (NVC) dataset which aggregates data from Health Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada, and Canada Health Infoway. The catalogue provides a comprehensive list of immunizing agents and vaccine products available in B.C. and across Canada. This includes information about vaccine products, standardized terminology, and B.C. Product Identification Numbers (PINs) for use in digital health information systems and recording product-specific information in Electronic Health Records (EHR), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Clinical Information Systems (CIS), Pharmacy Management Systems (PMS), and the Provincial Immunization Repository (PIR).
The goals for the B.C. Immunizing Agents and Vaccine Catalogue Value Set are congruent with the objectives of the NVC:
Alignment of the B.C. Immunizing Agents and Vaccine Catalogue Value Set to the NVC is governed by the provincial Digital Health Standards Office (DHSO) and Pharmaceutical, Laboratory & Blood Services Division (PLBSD).
The current version of the B.C. Immunizing Agents and Vaccine Catalogue Value Set, and associated document materials are available for download. For any inquiries related to the published B.C. Immunizing Agents and Vaccine Catalogue Value Set, please email the Health Information Standards team at HLTH.HISSupport@gov.bc.ca.
Ensuring alignment and maintenance of the B.C. Immunizing Agents and Vaccine Catalogue Value Set to future releases of the NVC is the responsibility of the Health Information Standards team at the B.C. Ministry of Health.
The NVC is a publicly accessible information repository of all vaccines authorized for use in Canada, and international vaccines administered abroad and is maintained by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
