The B.C. Immunizing Agents and Vaccine Catalogue Value Set is aligned to Canadian Vaccine Catalogue (CVC) dataset which aggregates data from Health Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada, and Canada Health Infoway. The catalogue provides a comprehensive list of immunizing agents and vaccine products available in B.C. and across Canada including information about the products, standardized terminology for use in digital health information systems, and mapping to B.C. Product Identification Numbers (PINs) for publicly funded vaccines available through B.C. community pharmacies.
The goals for the B.C. Immunizing Agents and Vaccine Catalogue Value Set are congruent with the objectives of the CVC:
Alignment of the B.C. Immunizing Agents and Vaccine Catalogue Value Set to the CVC and is governed by the provincial Digital Health Strategy Office (DHSO) and Pharmaceutical, Laboratory & Blood Services Division (PLBSD).
The CVC is a data system that centralizes standardized immunization terminology and product data. It is used by health informatics and IT professionals developing digital health systems to capture, record and exchange immunization data.
The B.C. Immunizing Agents and Vaccine Catalogue Value Set is aligned to the CVC. However, the value set will require adjustments over time to maintain alignment with future versions of the CVC.
For any inquiries related to the B.C. Immunizing Agents and Vaccine Catalogue Value Set, please email the Health Information Standards team at HLTH.HISSupport@gov.bc.ca.
Ensuring alignment of the B.C. Immunizing Agents and Vaccine Catalogue Value Set to the CVC is the responsibility of the Health Information Standards team at the B.C. Ministry of Health.
The CVC is maintained by CANImmunize, an Ottawa-based technology company specializing in immunization software, and includes provincial stakeholders, Canada Health Infoway, and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
