In February 2019, the Ministry of Health’s Diagnostic Services team, on behalf of the Medical Services Commission (MSC), undertook a detailed review of the service delivery environment for diagnostic sleep studies in B.C. One of the outcomes of this multi-year review was regular wait time and utilization reporting became required for all Level 1 overnight polysomnography facilities approved to bill the Medical Services Plan (MSP).
Approved Polysomnography facilities are required to submit wait time reports each period (13 per fiscal year). The data collected informs recommendations to the Advisory Committee on Diagnostic Facilities (ACDF) when assessing applications for new, relocated or expanded polysomnography facilities.
Polysomnography Wait Time Reporting now uses a web-based platform designed to standardize and streamline data submission and analysis. Beginning May 5, 2025, all Polysomnography Wait Time Reports are submitted through the web-based form.
Please see below important information about the process and requirements for the new Polysomnography Wait Time Reporting system.
