Steve Morissette

Steve Morissette was first elected as the MLA for Kootenay-Monashee in 2024.

Steve was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Development in November 2024.

Steve has a decade of experience in local government, having served six years as the Mayor of the Village  of Fruitvale, and four as a councillor. As mayor, he oversaw the building of a new child care facility and accessible affordable housing complex, and put in place a plan to move the village to 100% renewable energy by 2050. Steve was also a Municipal Director of the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary.

Before entering municipal politics, Steve was the Director of Operations for School District No. 20 (Kootenay-Columbia).

Steve lives with his wife in Fruitvale, where they raised four sons.
