Innovation Accelerator (IA)

Open: August 12, 2025

Closing: September 24, 2025

Innovation Accelerator aims to enhance clean technology innovation and industrial decarbonization by supporting projects that trial, pilot, or demonstrate novel clean technology at industrial facilities in B.C.

This stream is targeted at projects utilizing pre-commercial technology, generally in the technological readiness level (TRL) range 7-8 as defined by Innovation Canada. Novel pilot projects of TRL 9 technologies that satisfy other eligibility requirements may be considered.

Objectives

  • To support new pathways for industrial emissions reductions in B.C.
  • To support industry-led innovation in clean technology solutions
  • To support partnerships between industry and clean technology providers

Eligibility summary

  • Projects must contribute to innovation by trialing, demonstrating or piloting a new or adapted clean technology or clean industrial process at a Regulated Operation
  • Project technology must have the potential to result in a net reduction of Attributable or Associated emissions at the primary Regulated Operation associated with the Project
  • Project technologies or processes must have a credible path to commercial adoption if proven viable

For complete information on the scope and eligibility requirements for IA applications, refer to Section 3 of the Request for Proposals document listed below. Refer to Section 2 of the Request for Proposal document for definitions of capitalized terms.

Feasibility Studies (FS)

Open: August 12, 2025

Closing: September 21, 2025

The Feasibility Studies stream supports desktop studies that help determine the operational, technical, and/or economic viability of an industrial emissions reduction project.

The study should help remove barriers, decrease risks, clarify costs and/or support a business case for a future emissions reduction Project at a Regulated Operation.

Eligibility summary

  • The Study must investigate the feasibility and/or advance the concept of a potential Project that would support industrial decarbonization and emissions reductions
  • Studies must be scoped to support Projects that reduce Attributable or Associated emissions at a Regulated Operation or develop a technology that has the potential to reduce these emissions in the future

For complete information on the scope and eligibility requirements for FS applications, refer to Section 3 of the Request for Proposals document listed below. Refer to Section 2 of the Request for Proposal document for definitions of capitalized terms.

Previous funding calls

CleanBC and BC Hydro Industrial Electrification Program (IE)

Closed December 2024

IE, jointly administered by CIF and BC Hydro, offered a streamlined funding process for large industrial low-carbon electrification projects that require a new or upgraded connection to the BC Hydro Integrated Grid. The 2024/2025 IE pilot is complete. All successful IE project applications have been funded and are currently underway.

If you have any questions, comments or feedback on the IE pilot, please email CleanBCIndustryFund@gov.bc.ca

Emissions Performance (EP)

Closed May 2024

The EP funding call supports projects that reduce emissions at an industrial operation using commercial available technologies.

Emissions Performance funding stream is not running a proposal intake in 2025. Information on previous years' project can be found in funded projects.
