Some core benefits to look forward to:
To use the new system, Security Businesses require an active Business BCeID profile. Business BCeID provides secure access to online government services, including the Security Services online platform. Authenticating your security business is the only secure way to access the online service.
The new system allows up to eight individuals to be authorized to manage the security business account online. These individuals are referred to as business managers within the system. Of the eight, up to two can be designated as primary business managers, while up to six can be business managers
When the online platform goes live, the current manual paper forms will no longer be valid or accepted. Updated manual forms will not be available on the website, and you will need to contact the Security Services Licensing Unit to request one.
A Business BCeID is free to create. It will take about 15 minutes to complete the registration. Processing times vary in the completion of your Business BCeID account before its ready for use.
But first, check if your business already has one.
If your business is already using Business BCeID, you should confirm that your account is active. To prepare your business to use the new Security Services online platform, you may wish to update your Business BCeID account and confirm that Controlling Member information is up to date.
BCeID passwords expire two (2) years from the time they were created or last changed. Log-in to your Business BCeID account to check if your business information is up to date.
If you have questions or need help with registering for a Business BCeID, contact the Service BC Help Desk.
The first person to log into the security business online platform and start an application becomes the primary business manager for your business.
They can designate one additional primary business manager and up to six additional business managers.
If someone who is not a business manager attempts to log in, they will receive an error message directing them to contact the primary business manager.
Note: The online platform has two roles: primary business manager and business manager. Both roles have the same system permissions, except that the primary business manager can also invite others to become business managers.
All of your security business’s business managers require individual BCeID user accounts to log in to the online platform.
For more assistance on setting up your BCeID user accounts, refer to pg. 18-21 of the Business BCeID Profile and Account Management Guide (PDF).
If you are unable to obtain a Business BCeID, you will need contact our office during regular business hours for assistance.

The online platform uses the BC Services Card account to verify your identity. The BC Services Card account is a secure and easy way to prove who you are when accessing government services online.
One of the many benefits of using the BC Services Card account for your initial or renewal application as a Security Worker is you will only need to submit your fingerprints once.

If you live in another Canadian province or territory and do not have a physical BC Services Card, you can still set up a BC Services Card account and submit your application online. You will need two pieces of government-issued ID to verify your identity.
If you choose not to use a BC Services Card account, you can still apply for a security service licence online. However, security worker applicants must submit fingerprints for identity verification with every renewal application, if they do not use their BC Services Card account. Additionally, they will not experience all the benefits the BC Services Card account process offers.
Permit applicants are required to use a BC Services Card account to authenticate into the online application.
