Selling body armour

Last updated on December 10, 2025

To sell body armour in British Columbia, the appropriate licence is required unless you are exempt under the Body Armour Control Act or the Body Armour Control Regulation.

If your business sells body armour, both a security business licence and a security worker licence are required under the Security Services Act. The Deputy Registrar determines whether your business qualifies as a security business and whether a security business licence is required.

If you or your business sells body armour, you must only sell it to a buyer holding a valid body armour permit or who is exempt from needing one. Wholesale body armour sales do not require permits or licensing, if they are selling to a licensed security business, or to another wholesaler.
