Armoured Vehicle Permit Application and Management Process

Armoured car permit holders must comply with the Armoured Vehicle and After-Market Compartment Control Act and Regulation and the terms and conditions of their permits.

The online application uses the BC Services Card account to verify your identity. The BC Services Card account is a secure and easy way to prove who you are when accessing government services online.

If you live in another Canadian province or territory and do not have a physical BC Services Card, you can still set up a BC Services Card account to submit your application online.

If you are unable to obtain a BC Services Card account, please contact our office during regular business hours for assistance.

Renewing a Permit

Your permit is valid for five years and must be renewed before it expires.

Replacing a Permit

You must carry your permit whenever you are operating an armoured vehicle. If your permit is lost or stolen, you must submit a Request for Replacement to the Registrar within 14 days.

Updating a Permit

You must notify the Registrar within 14 days of:

  • A change in your employment (if the operation of an armoured vehicle under the permit is for the purposes of that employment)
  • A change in your circumstances such that you no longer require the permit for a purpose prescribed under section 4 (1) (d) the act
  • A change in your residential address, or
  • Any new criminal charges or convictions against you

Surrendering a Permit

If you are not renewing your permit, you must surrender it to the Registrar on or before the day it expires.
