Additional grants and funding opportunities for school food programs

B.C. school districts receive provincial funding through Feeding Futures to create and expand school food programs. Additional grants and funding from non-profit organizations, community partners or corporate donors continue to play a vital role in program delivery.

Flexible grants intended to improve school food environments by increasing access to healthy, local, and culturally appropriate foods in schools and/or improve opportunities for hands-on learning through food and food systems.

The Indigenous Foodways in Schools Grants will provide funding for Indigenous school communities to support their long-term community visions of Indigenous food security and food sovereignty in the school setting.

Farm Credit Canada (FCC) Community Funding 

Offers annual funding for initiatives, projects, or capital purchases focused on food security, well-being and education and food literacy.

TD Friends of the Environment Foundation Grant

Grants for schools, communities and charitable organizations that want to start a project to help the environment. For example, school and community gardens or environmental education programs.

Offers grants for Indigenous-led social, health, and community programs.

Funding opportunities available to Canadian non-profit organizations or registered charities through Walmart Canada.

Whole Kids Garden Grant Program

Grants to support a new or existing edible educational garden located at a K-12 school.

BC Dairy Association Mini Food Grant

Educators can apply for a mini food grant by showing how they would use the money to complement the BC Dairy Association program they're teaching.

Schools can also access tools and information to help set-up a school milk program.

BC Hydro Community Giving Grants

Grants for schools with a CRA charitable number and a project or program that:

  • Provides education to students in trades, science, technology, engineering or math
  • Promotes energy efficiency, reduces carbon emissions and minimizes environmental impacts

Funding from the provincial government designed to support not-for-profit organizations with the delivery of accessible and inclusive programs and services. There is also funding for Parent Advisory Councils and capital projects.

These annual grants are designed to support new and established school initiatives that encourage students to explore, learn and grow through food.

Offers start-up and enhancement grants for food and nutrition literacy programs.

Mavalicious KidsEat

A program for elementary schools to fundraise by selling affordable, locally-sourced hot school lunches that meet the nutrition guidelines for food and beverage sales.
