School District 40 - Queen Elizabeth Elementary

Publication date: December 18, 2023

Project Status: Design

City/Town: New Westminster

Project Scope: This project includes the construction of a new 525-seat addition and a Neighbourhood Learning Centre (NLC) with new child-care spaces, which almost doubles the capacity of the existing school. Queen Elizabeth Elementary is the only elementary school serving the Lulu Island area in New Westminster, known as Queensborough, which is separated from the rest of the district by the Fraser River. This project will alleviate pressure on the only middle school in the area by providing new space for Grade 5 students who were previously moved to Queensborough Middle School to create more space at Queen Elizabeth Elementary. The addition with NLC will be a significant project for both the Queen Elizabeth Elementary students and the Queensborough community.

Estimated Project Value: $34.28 million
