The BC Public Service trade journeyman gardener is in a family of jobs (trades) responsible for duties in a specific skilled handicraft established under the Apprenticeship Act and requiring certification and vocational/ apprenticeship training.

In trades positions, one or more of the following activities are of primary importance:

  • Performing skilled journeyman-level work within the scope of their trade, according to standards established under the Apprenticeship Act
  • Carrying out assigned lead-hand activities
  • Coordinating, directing and supervising a crew of trade journeymen

Excluded from this series are positions which perform skilled or semi-skilled work

  • Not identified in the Apprenticeship Act as a trade
  • Not requiring certification and/or vocational/apprenticeship training
