Forest technician

BC Public Service forest technicians perform routine or straightforward work that supports forest resource management.

This includes:

  • Fire-suppression crew person
  • Fire detection/lookout person
  • Seed orchard technician
  • Research crew person
  • Junior assistant on cruising or forest survey parties
  • Stand treatment crew person
  • Plot measurement crew person

Work at this level is specifically assigned and is subject to checking. Positions at the entry level work under close supervision.

Forest Technician 6

Effective the first pay period after June 1, 2025, positions classified as range 6 will be paid at grid range 7. Review grid level 7 pay rates for this position.
