Building Maintenance Worker
Building maintenance workers are responsible for cleaning, servicing and maintenance duties within government institutions and buildings. These duties include sweeping, mopping, polishing, waxing and vacuuming floors; dusting and polishing desks, furniture and woodwork; cleaning specialized areas of the building; mixing industrial cleaning solutions and performing minor maintenance to equipment.
Note: Per the 18th Main Public Service Agreement, the Employer and the BCGEU have jointly agreed that, effective April 1, 2020, the point band range for Grid 7 will be amalgamated with the point band range for Grid 9. As a result of this decision, Grid 7 will no longer be used and all employees who are currently at the Grid 7 level will be moved over to their same classification at the Grid 9 level.
