COVID-19 information

Last updated on June 19, 2025

The COVID-19 public health emergency has ended. There are no workplace restrictions at this time.

COVID-19 remains consistently present in BC communities, meaning that people continue to be infected but widespread outbreaks have ended.

Employers are still obligated to reduce risks to workers from communicable diseases in their workplaces. Communicable disease prevention was added to the Occupational Health and Safety regulations in 2021.

There are five general workplace measures for communicable disease prevention:

  • Policies to support staff with illness symptoms
  • Hand-hygiene facilities
  • Clean environment
  • Building ventilation
  • Supporting vaccination

Each workplace must have a Communicable Disease Prevention Plan (CDPP) (PDF, 92KB) that addresses how their workplace measures are implemented and supported.
