This list of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) available in Canada is not comprehensive and is only provided to help you determine whether a vehicle is a zero-emission vehicle.
You can review the details on how provincial sales tax applies to ZEVs in Bulletin PST 308, PST on Vehicles (PDF, 400KB).
If you purchased, leased or were gifted a used ZEV before May 1, 2025, you are exempt from paying PST. If you entered into a lease of a used ZEV before May 1, 2025, any lease payments due after April 30, 2025, are not eligible for the exemption. Qualifying used ZEVs include:
Vehicles that do not qualify include:
If you are unsure whether your vehicle qualified as a ZEV for this exemption, please contact us.
If you purchased a used ZEV privately or received it as a taxable gift, the ZEV must have had 6,000 km or more on the odometer to be eligible for the PST exemption.
The exemption was provided by the motor vehicle dealer or leasing company when you bought or leased the ZEV, or by ICBC when you registered the ZEV if it was privately purchased or imported into B.C.
Each make indicated in the list below includes all accompanying trims, given the ZEV requirements are met. For more information on ZEV requirements, see Bulletin PST 116, Motor Vehicle Dealers and Leasing Companies (PDF, 430KB).
Vehicles on this list may still be subject to verification on audit to confirm the vehicle is a zero-emission vehicle.
