This round of public consultation has concluded and feedback received is being reviewed as part of policy development. We thank all respondents for providing valuable insight.
Engagement on policies will likely occur later this summer or early in the fall.
In 2019, B.C. put a regulatory framework in place to enable ride hailing in the province.
In 2023/24, a parliamentary committee, the Special Committee to Review Passenger Directed Vehicles, reviewed the framework and made recommendations related to topics such as vehicle supply, safety, employment, environmental impacts, and service to rural and remote communities.
Informed by the recommendations of the Special Committee, the Ministry of Transportation and Transit is undertaking a review of the current legislation and regulations, with a view to making targeted improvements to optimize the way it functions for industry and passengers.
