First Nations, Inuit and Métis children and youth in care must be supported to preserve, develop and maintain their cultural identity and connection to their extended families and communities.

Intercountry adoption occurs when a resident of British Columbia adopts a child from outside Canada. The child may be unrelated to the applicant or may be a relative who lives in another country.
