Apply for fish and wildlife permits that do not have a specific application

Eligibility

Ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements prior to applying:

  • Applicant must be at least 19 years old, unless a parent or guardian has given written consent to the application. A permit must NOT be issued to an applicant under age 10
  • Wildlife must be wildlife as defined under the Wildlife Act
    Note: Permits cannot be issued for Eagles, Snowy Owl, Badger or any red-listed species and/or if wildlife has an auction value of over $200 for personal display
  • Specific permits may include additional eligibility requirements. Where additional eligibility requirements are set, those are described in the relevant permit type

Overview

This application allows you to complete a general permit application for fish and wildlife permits that do not have a specific application form.

The permit holder must comply with all laws applicable to the activities carried out under this permit. Applicants should be aware of and follow the conditions indicated on their permit, should their permit application be approved.

Costs

Cost may be a specific value or range of values. The cost includes GST, where applicable.

  • Fee paid for a permit issued generally or for the wildlife, purpose or method specified (if any) plus the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation (HCTF) surcharge (if any) is set out in Wildlife Act Permit Regulation Schedule 3

Due to the complex nature of this application, fees will not be collected or calculated online. Instead, a clerk will contact you to inform you of any fees owed and to arrange payment.

Fee exempt

If you are requesting this application to be exempt from fees, please follow the instructions below to complete the electronic application submission:

  • Make sure that you are eligible for fee exemption as per the reasons listed in the "Fee Exemption Regulations"
  • Provide proof of exemption along with your application (if applicable)
  • On Step 7 of the application, indicate that you are fee exempt and the reason(s) for exemption. You can indicate this in the "Any Other Information About Your  Application" section of the application
  • For payment option, select "Pay in person"

Contact FrontCounter BC with application tracking number to let the office know you have submitted the application but have NOT paid the fee and that you need to be fee exempt as per the reason(s) listed in the regulations.

The target time frame for decision on your permit is 30 days*

*Processing time may be considerably longer if there is a required consultation process.

Your application will go through the following process before any decision is made:

  1. Receiving the application
    Your application will be reviewed to ensure that it is complete. Your payment and documents will be entered into the appropriate systems. When necessary, you will be contacted for more information. 

    An application will not be accepted and processed until all required information as well as payment has been received.

  2. Decision making
    A decision will be made on whether to issue a permit or not after a full review of your submission.

  3. Issuance of permit
    If your application is approved, the permit will be issued and sent to you by FrontCounter BC. If your application is not approved, you will be notified. 

    NOTE: If you applied with a BCeID, you can use it to log in to the Manage your Natural Resource Applications webpage, where you can download your licence or permit if one has been issued.
