Gabe leads the Geomatics team, which is primarily responsible for turning existing geoscience information into machine readable publicly accessible databases. The team also builds and maintains MapPlace, our geospatial web service.

Expertise
Gabe joined the BCGS in 2016 as a Geomatics Geoscientist and became Senior Geomatics Geoscientist in 2023. In his role at the BCGS, he has led efforts to digitize historical assessment report data. He is particularly interested in using open-source software to streamline data capture, validation, and integration as well as delivery to the public.
Previously, Gabe worked as an exploration geologist in Northern Canada. During this time, he designed and managed exploration programs for a variety of commodities and clients
