Objectives

Monitor vegetation cover and composition on burned and unburned portions of cutblock
Monitor the impact of a broadcast burn on soil properties

Experimental design

Three areas were compared descriptively:

Unburned ICHdw/01a
Burned ICHdw/01a
Burned ICHdw/01b

Layout

5 - 15m line intersect transects and 25 - .5 m² quadrats to measure shrub and herb cover and height on each of the areas described above
3 - 30m triangles for fuel, forest floor and soil monitoring

September 1985 prescribed burn and post-burn measurements
August 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989 remeasurement
Spring 1998 resample soils
Summer 1999 remeasured
