The Province is hosting a series of webinars to support local government implementation of Bills 16, 44, 46, and 47. Each webinar is designed to support local government staff by providing technical overviews of the requirements from legislation and regulations and a question-and-answer period. Webinars will be recorded and made available, when possible, for those unable to attend.
July 17, 2024: Updating your Housing Needs Report: the BC HNR Calculator (delivered by UBC)
Time: 10:00 to 11:00 am PST
Description: The Housing Assessment Resources Tool (HART) team at UBC is developing a HNR Calculator to support local governments apply the new HNR Method. The calculator, designed to be user friendly, will automatically pull in relevant data for each component of the HNR Method, showing users each step to calculate the total number of housing units needed over 5 and 20 years. The HART team will be hosting a short webinar demonstration of the HNR Calculator.
The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer period.

January 31, 2024: B.C.’s Short-Term Rental Accommodations Act

Description: An overview of the objectives and execution of the Short-Term Rental Accommodations Act, with a particular focus on key considerations and implications for local governments. The legislation aims to give local governments stronger tools to enforce short-term rental regulations, return short-term rental units to the long-term rental market, and establish a new provincial role in the regulation of short-term rentals.

We will also review the policy manual and site standards that must be considered in implementation, as well as the process for exempting lots, and direction for zoning bylaw amendments and more.
