Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) immunization program

Immunizations help protect against severe illness caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Starting in fall 2026, eligible older adults in B.C. can get an RSV vaccine at no-cost.

RSV immunization program eligibility

Starting fall 2026, the Province is offering a time-limited RSV immunization program. At this time, only 1 dose of the RSV vaccine is recommended for protection. The vaccine is available at no-cost in B.C. for:

Adults ages 75 and older
Long-term care and seniors’ assisted living residents ages 75 and older
First Nations, Inuit and Métis individuals ages 60 and older

You do not need another dose if you’ve received an RSV vaccine before.

The RSV vaccine is available year-round. For the best protection, it is recommended that you get the vaccine before the upcoming viral respiratory illness season starts and the risks of RSV infection and other respiratory illnesses begin to increase. You can get the RSV vaccine at the same time as your influenza (flu) and COVID-19 vaccines.

You can access your immunization record online through Health Gateway.

If you have already received a dose of RSV vaccine but your immunization record is missing on Health Gateway, you can add it in the Provincial Immunization Registry.

Can I still get immunized if I’m not eligible for the publicly-funded program?

If you are interested in the RSV vaccine but not eligible for the publicly-funded program, the vaccine may be available for purchase at select pharmacies and travel clinics in B.C.

Some health insurance plans may cover the cost of the vaccine. If you have a private health insurance plan, please reach out to your insurance provider to confirm your eligibility and coverage for RSV vaccine.
