Overview

Section 51 requires the Commissioner to report annually on the work of the Commissioner’s office and on complaints or reviews related to the commissioner’s role as head of a public body.

Section Reference

Section 51 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act

  1. The commissioner must report annually to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly on
    1. the work of the commissioner’s office, and
    2. any complaints or reviews resulting from a decision, act or failure to act of the commissioner as head of a public body.
  2. The Speaker must lay each annual report before the Legislative Assembly as soon as possible. 

Summary

The Commissioner must report annually to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly describing the work of the Commissioner’s office and any complaints or reviews that have resulted from his/her decisions, acts or failures to act, as head of a public body.

NOTE: The compilation of an annual report for the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner is the responsibility of the Commissioner and is independent of the Annual Report of the Minister responsible for the Act, required under section 68.
