We have everything we need to succeed: abundant natural wealth and clean energy; a strong, diversified economy with good-paying jobs; access to global markets; and our most important resource, the hardworking people who call this beautiful place home.
Right now, the world feels uncertain. We have seen months of unprecedented chaos and reckless threats from the United States against both our sovereignty and our economy – and we expect the unpredictability to continue.
More than ever, our focus is on protecting the services people rely on while growing our economy to create lasting prosperity for people in British Columbia.
We’re reducing costs for people and families through funding BC Builds to deliver more middle-income rental homes, making communities safer by addressing public safety concerns like shoplifting and violent crime, improving access to health care through new hospitals and long-term care facilities, building new schools, streamlining major projects to boost our economy and keeping goods and people moving through projects like the new Massey Tunnel and repairing critical road infrastructure around the province.
Amid global economic turmoil, the B.C. government is standing up for British Columbians.
The 2026 Budget consultation is the public’s opportunity to share their ideas and ensure their voices are reflected in B.C.’s plan for the future.
Parliamentary committee
The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services is one of eleven permanent parliamentary committees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. Each year, the committee holds province-wide consultations to seek the views of British Columbians on priorities for the next provincial budget and presents a final report with recommendations to the Legislative Assembly.
