B.C. Government representatives are working to build relationships with the Nlaka'pamux First Nations outside of the B.C. treaty process.
The Nlaka'pamux are 15 bands/communities grouped as a collective Nation that holds inherent rights including title. The Nation's political structure is complex and currently includes several groups that represent various communities for different reasons.
The Nlaka'pamux Nation has three unaffiliated communities: Lower Nicola, Kanaka Bar, and Spuzzum and two primary governance groups:
