The emergency phase of this incident has concluded.
Highway 97C was reopened early this morning. The truck and remaining dangerous goods materials were relocated to a nearby temporary location for analysis and decontamination. The truck will then be removed to a tow yard.
An assessment of environmental impacts will take place to determine remedial actions needed for the site. A lane closure on Highway 97C is expected for when this work takes place.

A 5 ton truck transporting miscellaneous dangerous goods was involved in a motor vehicle accident and caught fire approximately 15 km from West Kelowna on Highway 97C. An unknown amount of dangerous goods were released.
The West Kelowna Fire Department, RCMP, and Emergency Health Services have responded to the incident. Two Provincial Environmental Emergency Response Officers (EEROs) from ENV were dispatched to the site to support on-scene operations.
Fire suppression operations have been undertaken. Highway 97C is closed at the site due to localized air quality concerns from the dangerous goods consumed by the fire. No fatalities have been reported.
