CPKC, response contractors, and environmental consultants are on site to continue assessments and cleanup efforts. A plan to address the spilled diesel has been developed. Contingency containment has been set up downstream to reduce the risk to the Illecillewaet River.

Containment of the spill is now complete and visual inspections indicate that containment is working. Consultants and contractors continue to stay on site to conduct water sampling and to maintain all of the deployed containment equipment. An environmental sampling plan has been developed and is being implemented by the environmental consultant.

Rail lines are now open and operating at a reduced speed around the derailment site. An EERO will continue to monitor the situation as cleanup efforts continue and the outcome of water sampling is determined.
