On June 23rd, the Ministry of Environment and Parks (ENV) received a report that a B-train tractor trailer was involved in a motor vehicle incident. The incident site is on the Alaska Highway 97 at kilometer 680, near Toad River, B.C.

At the time of the incident, the two trailers were carrying a combined total of 50,000 litres of gasoline and diesel. Preliminary estimates are that approximately 50 litres of diesel has been spilled through a small hole in one of the trailers. The hole has been plugged.

A response contractor hired by the responsible person is enroute to the incident site. The diesel and gasoline from both trailers must be transferred out before the incident site can be cleared.

The highway contractor is constructing a detour around the incident.

An ENV Response Officer is currently being deployed to the incident site.

ENV will continue to monitor the incident.
