June 23

On June 18th, a pail of a lime-sulfur mixture was spilled by a vehicle travelling along Main Street in Osoyoos, B.C.

The mixture is not classed as a hazardous material but does smell quite strongly, and it has chemically bonded to the street. The responsible person paid for a street sweeper to attend site on Friday; however the material did not come off the pavement.

The ministry has assessed potential response actions. Considering the proximity to watercourses and likely damage to pavement, additional response actions would not be advantageous.

No further action will be taken. The material and its smell is expected to erode naturally over time.

No further updates are anticipated.
