The response contractor arrived at site. The source of the leak has been identified as a blown gasket. The leak has been stopped. Ventilation operations have brought ammonia air readings to safe levels. Work is underway to repair the system.
The shelter-in-place has been lifted by the local authority.

At 08:45 on June 19, 2026, the Ministry of Environment and Parks received a report of a potential ammonia gas leak at an ice rink facility located at 5700 Langley Bypass in Langley, B.C.
The local Fire Department is on scene and an Incident Command Post (ICP) has been established. A response contractor is mobilizing to the ICP.
A shelter-in-place has been issued by the local authority for nearby apartment complexes.
No fatalities or injuries have been reported at this time.
An ENV Response Officer is mobilizing to the ICP. ENV is currently monitoring the incident.
